| Joseph T. Benefield joined the firm as a name partner in 1972. |
1922 - William Howard Borland, Sr., founds firm in 1922 and locates in the City Federal Building on 2nd Ave North in downtown Birmingham.
1948 - Mr. Borland, one of the early leaders in the Alabama Society of CPAs, becomes president of the organization.
1951 - Mr. Borland forms a partnership with his son and the firm operates as William Howard Borland & Son for 20 years.
1972 - Joseph T. Benefield enters into the partnership.
1972 - Mr. Borland passes and shortly thereafter, his son, Howard, withdraws from the firm.
1972 - Mr. Benefield forms a partnership with David C. Crawford, and the firm operates under the name of Borland, Benefield & Crawford.
1977 – The firm merges with Webster & Associates, a sole proprietorship owned by Sheldon B. Webster.
1977 - Borland, Benefield, Crawford & Webster welcomes William J. Jeffares as a name shareholder.
1977 – The firm moves from its Office Park, Mountain Brook location to new offices on Highland Ave.
1978 – Borland Benefield establishes the Government Audit and Compliance Services team led by Mr. Webster.
1980 – The firm affiliates with BKR International, a worldwide association of independent accounting firms with more than 130 member firms in 300 offices located in over 60 countries around the world.
1983 - Allen D. Collins, CPA, merges his practice into Borland, Benefield, Crawford, Webster and Jeffares, P.C. and becomes a shareholder.
1984 – The firm opens its Florence, Alabama office.
1985 - The firm is saddened by the death of William Jeffares. In light of his passing, the shareholders returned to operating under the name Borland, Benefield, Crawford and Webster, P.C.
1985 - After a long and distinguished career, Mr. Benefield retires but remains closely associated with the firm.
1988 – University of Alabama graduate Jeffrey D. Chandler joins firm.
1993 - Michael L. Johnson, CPA, merges his practice with Borland Benefield.
1995 – Dena Davis joins the firm.
1995 – UA alum John M. Wilson joins the firm.
1998 - Jeffrey D. Chandler becomes a shareholder.
1998 – To accommodate growth, the firm relocates to Southbridge Parkway location.
1999 – Charles Polmatier joins the firm.
2000 – The Borland Benefield Nonprofit Group is created to serve the needs of Alabama nonprofits, associations and benevolent organizations.
2003 – The firm mourns the passing of Mr. Benefield.
2003 - John M. Wilson becomes a shareholder.
2003 – Mr. Webster is asked to serve as worldwide chair of BKR and accepts the role.
2005 – Dena Davis becomes firm shareholder and later assumes charge of the Florence office.
2006 – Mr. Crawford retires after 40-plus years of service to his profession and community.
2006 – Charles Polmatier becomes a firm shareholder.
2007 – Dede Hutcheson joins firm to fulfill the role of Chief Operating Officer
